VKR Holding is building eight demonstration houses in five different European countries in order to test and develop the Active House vision. The aim of these experimenting buildings is to contribute with new knowledge about sustainable buildings of the future.

Two of the houses have been erected by SolarCAP and SONNENKRAFT in Germany and Austria:

Haus der Zukunft (House of the future) is situated on the outskirts of Regensburg in Germany and was officially opened on 17 September 2009. (download picture)
